Due to our continued growth and success, UCFB are looking to appoint additional staff to join our academic team, in the provision and delivery of the BSc Sport Psychology programme. Validated by BUCKS New University, the franchise programme delivered at UCFB Wembley is currently under review for BPS accreditation.
We are looking to recruit dynamic and ambitious psychologists with the knowledge and experience to be able to teach and assess across the GBC curriculum.
This will include biological psychology, cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, individual differences, social psychology, conceptual and historical issues in psychology and research methods.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to teach and conduct research within our portable laboratory, with state of the art resources and equipment including ECG, EMG, Galvanic Skin Response, Stroop tests, heart rate variability biofeedback, blood pressure and cardiac outputs, as well as make use of the newly purpose built Psychology Experimental Laboratory equipped with software such as Biopac, the Observational Suite and Human Performance, Exercise and Wellbeing Centre at BUCKS New University.

Activities will include:
1. To teach on designated modules and programme of study as the Head of Academic may specify;
2. Maintain academic standards and adhere to the programme and module specifications
3. Design and deliver teaching materials at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including contributing to the curriculum review and enhancement, in a manner that supports and focuses on student learning outcomes.
· Preparation and delivery of modules-lectures and seminar materials at various levels.
· Challenge thinking and foster debate to develop the ability for students to engage in critical discourse and rational thinking, stimulating excellence.
· Identify learning needs of students and define appropriate learning objectives.
· Supervise the work of students- including student project, field trips, and where appropriate, placement- and provide advice on study skills.
4. Undertake student assessments and examination activities including the provision of appropriate feedback to students.
· Marking, assessing and internal verification of students’ work.
5. Engage in continuous professional development
· Develop familiarity with a variety of strategies to promote and assess learning
· Have in-depth understanding of own specialism to enable the development of new knowledge and understanding within the field.
· Balance the pressures of teaching, personal research and administrative demands and competing deadlines.
6. To participate in the department seminars aimed at knowledge sharing and building interdisciplinary collaboration within and outside the department.
· Act as a responsible team member and develop productive working relationships with other members of staff.
· Participate in and develop external networks that promote UCFB and contribute to and build relationships for future activities.
· Collaborate with colleagues on the development and implementation of assessment procedures.
7. Be responsible for the pastoral care of students within a specified area
· Act as personal tutor, providing first line support.
· Refer students to appropriate services providing further help (student services).
8. Achieve key academic performance indicators, attendance, retention and achievement
Working hours: Working hours normally 8.30 am – 5pm but may involve additional and unsocial working hours depending on the nature of the event and occasional travel between campus.
What we are looking for
- An excellent educational profile with undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Psychology
- PhD or near Completion
- Experience of project supervision of taught UG programmes
- Experience of publishing in esteemed high quality journals
- Two or more years’ full time teaching experience in Higher Education;
- Ability to teach two or more of the modules listed at level 5 and level 6: (1)Social Psychology (2) Developmental Psychology (3) Quantitative Research Methods (4) Qualitative Research Methods (5) Personality and Individual Differences (6) Conceptual and Historical issues in Psychology
