Working as a Media Officer at Blackburn Rovers, Tom has a wide grasp across most aspects of the media spectrum of a football club.

The BA (Hons) Football Business & Media graduate joined the club following his work in the media team at Southend United and then Wycombe Wanderes, a job he gained just months after leaving UCFB.

His role at Wycombe involved maintaining the club’s website, managing the social media feeds, creating and editing content for the match day programme, interviewing players for the online video channel and developing the club’s marketing campaigns.

Tom highlights the skills he picked up during his time at UCFB as vital in securing his job at Adams Park, as well as a seven-month work placement at Burnley FC during his time at UCFB.

What advice would he give to those looking to break into the industry via a degree at UCFB?

“Take advantage of as many of the opportunities that UCFB gives you. I took the opportunity to work at Burnley FC for seven months and that was a massive thing for me. Make the most of the experiences and take as much as you can from the modules and you can get to wherever you want to be.”

Tom finished: “The reputation of UCFB is growing, it’s massive now and everybody knows where UCFB is and what it is. There’s no limit to how far you can go with this institution.”
