UCFB is delighted to announce that experienced football league manager Danny Wilson and football agent Sky Andrew will be talking to students this week as part of the Executive Guest Speaker Series.

Andrew, who’s previously represented the likes of David Ginola and Jermain Defoe, and Wilson, who counts Sheffield Wednesday, Sheffield United and Barnsley among his former clubs, will appear at UCFB Wembley and UCFB Etihad Campus on Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th November respectively.

Sky Andrew

A table tennis ace in his youth, Andrew represented Great Britain at the 1988 Seoul Olympics before winning three Commonwealth Table Tennis Championship golds the following year.

After retirement in 1994, he moved into agency and representing show business personalities, before becoming the first licensed black British football agent. With a roster that has included Jermaine Pennant and Jay Bothroyd, as well as Ginola and Defoe, his most high profile client was Sol Campbell, with Andrew playing a major part in the defender’s highly controversial move from Tottenham Hotspur to rivals Arsenal.

Danny Wilson

Wilson had a varied playing career that took him around England and its leagues, playing in midfield for the likes of Wigan Athletic in the non-league, Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion. His fondest memories as a player though come from two successful League Cup finals, in 1988 with Luton Town where he scored on the way to the Hatters defeating Arsenal, and 1991 with Sheffield Wednesday.

He began his managerial career at Barnsley as first assistant player-manager, before taking the manager’s job full time in 1994. In 1997, Wilson led Barnsley to promotion to the Premier League for the first time in their history.

Wednesday came calling in 1998, and in his first season led the Owls to 12th but was let go the following season with the side battling relegation. Since, his managerial career has taken him to Bristol City; Hartlepool United, where he led the side to promotion to League One in 2007; and Swindon Town, who were just a play-off final defeat from promotion to the Championship in 2009.

After Swindon, Wilson crossed the Steel City divide to take over at Sheffield United in 2011, and his first season in charge almost led to promotion to the Championship. However, a penalty shoot-out defeat to Huddersfield Town at Wembley Stadium ended the dream. Since leaving the Blades in 2013, Wilson has had a second spell at Barnsley, and his most recent role was at Chesterfield, who he left earlier this year.

Sky Andrew will appear at UCFB Wembley in Pitch View West at 11am on Tuesday 7th November. Danny Wilson will be at UCFB Etihad Campus in the Commonwealth Suite on Wednesday 8th November at 10am.
