300 up for UCFB employability team

UCFB reached another landmark this week when it struck a partnership with its 300th organisation to enable students to access vital work placement roles in the football, sport and events industries.

Since opening its doors in 2011, UCFB has emphasised the importance to all students of taking on work placement opportunities alongside their studies. In that time, over 1,000 students have been placed in elite organisations around the world including The Football Association, UEFA and the Rugby Football Union.

Over the past month, Sport England’s ‘This Girl Can’ marketing campaign has returned to billboards and TVs across the country. Originally created two years ago as an attempt to inspire women to participate in sport, its success was remarkable. Student match report: UCFB run rampant as they close in on title

UCFB Etihad Campus Women made the short trip to Manchester Metropolitan University knowing that two wins from their remaining two games would secure them the title in their first season.

SMMEX Wembley Stadium event to give UCFB students vital insight and experience

UCFB students will get the chance to network with the cream of the football and sport industry after landing work placement roles at an upcoming conference at Wembley Stadium.

In total, eight students will attend SMMEX – The Sports Merchandise & Marketing Exhibition – at the beginning of March to gain vital work experience and get a closer look at the inner workings of the industry, with some in attendance to film the event for the organisers.

Children in Need certificate for UCFB Etihad Campus staff and students

Students and staff at UCFB Etihad Campus have been presented with a certificate of thanks after raising over £450 for Children in Need.

Across the campus in November, a number of events took place including: a bake sale, a spotty cake competition and football matches where positions were auctioned off to help raise the funds for the BBC’s flagship charity appeal. The certificate, presented this week, confirmed a brilliant total of £454 was raised.

RFL boss Dr. Brian Barwick to speak to UCFB Wembley students as part of guest speaker series

UCFB is delighted to announce that Dr. Brian Barwick, chairman of the Rugby Football League and Super League, will be talking to UCFB Wembley students this week as part of the Executive Guest Speaker Series.

Barwick, who is also the former chief executive of The Football Association and is a member of the UCFB Employability & Enhancement panel, will appear at UCFB Wembley on Tuesday 28th February.

The role of a football scout consists of thousands of motorway miles, one-too-many service station sandwiches and an undying love for the game.

A scout will see thousands of players of all ages and levels over a season, and very few of their recommendations will come off. But every now and then, a gem, a diamond, a player of rare quality, is discovered. Such a player caught the keen eye of Mel Johnson when he was chief scout at Tottenham Hotspur.

Sara Hale: ‘Quad Series great preparation for Commonwealth Games and World Cup’

England netball coach and UCFB academic Sara Hale says the recent Quad Series tournament was the perfect preparation ahead of a busy two years that includes the Commonwealth Games and World Cup.

Dr. Barwick, who is also the former chief executive of The Football Association and is a member of the UCFB Employability & Enhancement panel, will appear at the London campus to give a flavour of UCFB life and talk about his colourful career on Saturday 4th March.

UCFB and She Kicks magazine team up to offer unique scholarship opportunity to female students

UCFB is delighted to announce a renewed partnership with leading football magazine She Kicks that will see two female students awarded a unique internship worth up to £3,000.

The scholarship is open to applicants who can demonstrate that a UCFB degree will help them with their career ambitions. The internship will take place at She Kicks or a partner publication, with all travel and accommodation expenses covered up to a maximum value of £3,000.
