Deferring, Changing, Transferring or Withdrawing
At UCFB we understand that sometimes plans change and that you may decide that once your place is confirmed that you no longer wish to study with us that year. If you decide that starting with us in September is no longer the best thing for you then it’s best to get in touch with us as soon as possible so that we can help you and advise you on the change.
Deferring your enrolment at UCFB
If you don’t feel that enrolling on a degree in September is the right thing for you but you are still passionate about a career in the football, sport and events industries, the best option for you would be to defer your place with UCFB to start in the following year. This is a very simple process to go through, we just ask that you email us on firstname.lastname@example.org to put the request in writing to us. You can do this at any stage in the application process, you can even indicate you would like a later start when you first fill in the application form, so if you’ve already decided that you want to go traveling, volunteering or work for a year or anything else before starting on a degree then you can tell us this as soon as you have made your mind up.
If your plans change again and you decide that you would like to start a year earlier then do get in touch to let us know. As long as there is still place left on the programme we will always let you bring your enrolment date forward a year.
It’s important to remember that you can only defer an offer once, if you defer your application to the following year then you would not be able to defer a second time to the year after that. If you find yourself in the situation of needing a second deferral, then you would need to withdraw your old application and submit a new one. We would of course be delighted to receive this application however.
Changing your course at UCFB
It is surprisingly common for applicants to change their mind about their chosen course, sometimes even more than once during the application process. Applicants currently holding an offer on BA (Hons) Football Business and Marketing programme may sometimes decide that BA (Hons) Football Business and Media is more suitable for them. Similarly, applicants on BA (Hons) Sport Business and Sport Broadcasting may decide to switch to BA (Hons) Multimedia Sport Journalism.
At UCFB we will always be happy to change course for you provided that:
a) You meet the minimum qualification entry requirements for the programme
b) Your personal statement is of a good standard and indicates that the programme will be a good fit for you (we may request a new personal statement in some cases) and
c) There is sufficient space on the programme to accommodate you. This can often be a stressful time for applicants, understandably applicants often call other institutions and receive an “informal” offer of a place before withdrawing from UCFB, then worry that this place will be lost if we do not release them quickly enough. This is particularly the case when A Level results have been released and all admissions offices are exceptionally busy.If you would like to be released from your offer to go to another institution, please email us on email@example.com to put this request in writing.
Withdrawing your application
If you decide that you would like to withdraw your application entirely then you simply need to email firstname.lastname@example.org to request this. We will often discuss this decision with you and we like to sometimes find out a bit more about why you have come to this decision but will always help you out with your withdrawal.
We will always do our best to help as quickly as possible. We like to find out why you have come to this decision as it helps us to improve the way we work and ensure that we are meeting our applicant’s and student’s expectations.
If you decide that you no longer want to attend UCFB but have a different institution in mind, we are happy to help you with this. If you have applied through UCAS and currently have a confirmed place to study at UCFB then we will need to release your application before you can receive a formal offer from another institution.
Transferring to another institution
If you decide that you would like to change course, you simply need to email email@example.com to request this in writing and we will send you a decision back on your request as soon as possible.
If you decide you no longer wish to attend a higher education institution and do not withdraw formally with us it will lead to you receiving continued information from us on enrolment and registration. Letting us know that you would like to withdraw will stop you receiving information and calls from us and may free up your place to go to another potential student.
