Blackpool calling for UCFB student Brad
For an aspiring football industry professional with big ambitions, Brad Lucken is going about the right way of making himself known to the right people.
With the long term goal of being in a similar position himself one day, Brad spends his time at the newly-promoted League One side helping Cowdy with the day-to-day tasks that come with running a football club. His main project though sees him helping the club with its equality compliance, as instructed by the Football League.
Brad landed the job with a little help from UCFB’s Complementary Curriculum and Employability team. Thanks to the team’s close links with the football industry, a number of unique work placements are made available to students on a weekly basis.
Like all roles advertised, students must apply with a CV and cover letter before being interviewed by the UCFB team. It was following this process Brad was then interviewed by Cowdy himself.
Commenting on his time at Bloomfield Road so far, Brad said: “I’m really enjoying seeing how a football club operates from within, and have learned a great deal during my time here so far.”
He added: “UCFB has given me the opportunity, allowing me to balance my studies alongside work experience. The networking skills and other skills I have learned during the Complementary Curriculum helped me get the placement in the first place, and have since helped me during my time at Blackpool.”
