Jermaine Jenas to speak to students at UCFB Future Leaders in Football and Sport Conference
UCFB is delighted to announce that former England and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jermaine Jenas will be speaking at the UCFB Future Leaders in Football and Sport Conference at St George’s Park in February.
Jenas, who is now a regular pundit on BT Sport and BBC Match of the Day, will speak to students about his playing career, which also saw him represent Newcastle United and Queens Park Rangers, and his move into the media.
Open to all third year and Masters students, the conference – set to take place on Thursday 14th February – will bring together some of the UK’s figureheads from the football industry to inspire students and explore solutions in sports business. Further names will be confirmed in the coming weeks and tickets for the conference are available via the link at the bottom of this page.
Jenas began his playing career at local club Nottingham Forest, where he made his first team debut aged 17 in 2001. After just a year, his talent was noticed by the legendary Sir Bobby Robson who signed him for Newcastle United. Jenas won the PFA Young Players of the Year award following his first season in the North East and in the Premier League.
Three years later, Tottenham signed Jenas for £7 million. During his eight-year spell in North London, Jenas was part of the Spurs team that won the League Cup in 2008 and qualified for the Champions League for the first time in 2010.
Following loan spells with Aston Villa and back at Forest, Jenas teamed back up with Harry Redknapp at Queens Park Rangers where he played until his retirement in 2014.
As well as a stellar club career, Jenas also represented England at all youth and senior levels, and was the first goal scorer for the Three Lions under the Fabio Capello regime.
Since calling time on his playing career, Jenas has made a name for himself as one of the up and coming talents on television, making regular appearances on BBC Match of the Day, including 2018 World Cup coverage, and on BT Sport’s Premier League and Champions League coverage.
Tickets for the conference are available on a first-come, first-served basis for all Year Three and Masters students. To book and for further details click here.
