Masters student Max talks UCFB’s MSc International Sport Management programme
Mature student Max Chernogor began the MSc International Sport Management programme at UCFB Wembley in September 2017. Here, he describes his time at UCFB, what he has learnt and the diverse nature of the programme…
I chose to study this programme to gain the expertise needed in order to work within the sports industry. I’m very sports orientated and this programme offers me the opportunity to pursue this.
So far the programme has helped me to develop many skills for my future career, including developing an understanding of how important decisions are made by key stakeholders, and how sports clubs around the country are run on daily basis. The programme is very focused on the management of international sport, which has left me confident to start working in sports management positions upon graduation.
I believe that the environment of studying in and around Wembley Stadium is one of the many highlights of UCFB, along with being able to network with many industry professionals. I was surprised by how international our programme was when I started; there are students from many different countries, and it’s good to hear experiences from the sports industry overseas.
I have fully immersed myself in life at UCFB and was elected as Student Representative for my programme in the first semester. My aim in this role is to maximise the enjoyment and enhance the experience of all students on the programme by speaking out on behalf of them and building relationships with key establishments and personnel in London.
What I really like is that UCFB are invested in the “School of Sport”. Academics are committed and we regularly have professionals from the sports industry coming in to deliver lectures and guest speaker sessions. I’ve found that this is a great opportunity for me to develop my contacts in the industry for my future career.
Students on the Msc International Sport Management programme have the unique opportunity to spend part of the year-long programme at the Real Madrid Graduate School – Universidad Europea, the educational arm of the 12-time European champions. Find out more here.
