UCFB alumni come out on top at Independent Higher Education Awards
UCFB was delighted to be recognised at the recent Independent Higher Education Awards in London.
On top of winning the Inspiring Alumni award, which recognised the work of graduate Alexander Brown, UCFB was also nominated in the Exporting Education category following the recently announced partnership with Africa 10.
The event celebrated innovation and best practice across the independent higher education sector, and also featured a talk from former Labour schools minister Lord Adonis.
Alexander is an inspiring alumnus, and a shining example of the great work and careers UCFB graduates go on to have following their time at the institution. As a video producer at The Football Association, Alexander now spends his days filming various FA-affiliated events, including England internationals and FA Cup matches. He was also selected as The FA’s video representative to accompany the England team in Russia at the World Cup this summer, documenting their success on their social media channels and the Lions’ Den YouTube series, which received millions of views online.
UCFB’s ground-breaking partnership with pan-African youth football organisation Africa 10 was also recognised. The two institutions will work together to deliver online sports degrees across the African continent to develop the football industry locally and upskill the workforce from grassroots to national governing bodies.
Commenting on the success, UCFB’s Chief Marketing Officer, Sharona Friedman, said: “These nominations are testament to the hard work of our alumni, staff and partners. UCFB continually strives for excellence to offer its students the best chance of success in their chosen careers, and the Inspiring Alumni award is well deserved recognition for Alexander.
“His hard work and determination during his time at UCFB, and since in his work with Burnley FC and now The FA, is proof that an exciting career in the football and sports industry is possible with the right attitude and commitment. He is a flag bearer for our alumni and exemplary role model for our students.”
