BA (Hons) Physical Education
Locations: UCFB Wembley, Manchester Sports Village (Belle Vue).
This degree will build the skills that students need to become confident physical education practitioners; it will also provide the experience and knowledge for them to be able to gain work in schools, outside coaching companies and in other physical activity establishments. Students will develop the practical and theoretical understanding of the two key areas needed for physical educators; they will become experts in physical activity and in the areas of teaching and sport pedagogy.
UCAS Information

This course is available with a Foundation year for those who do not meet main entry requirements. Please see ‘Requirements’ and ‘Modules’ tabs on this page for further information, including UCAS codes.
Students will fully explore the fundamentals of physical education and sport pedagogy, including applied practical skills, child development, pedagogical skills, sport policy and practice. Practical and academic studies analyse the effects of exercise on the body and undertake a range of physical activities experienced at different levels and ages of pupils.
From 2019, this degree is also available at UCFB Etihad Campus with the teaching location of Manchester Sports Village, Belle Vue.
Degree Content
Students will explore the national curriculum and the growing importance of physical activity and will cover a range of sporting options including the six key areas that schools require; athletics, games, gymnastics, dance, swimming, outdoor & adventure activities.
Weekly work within local schools is a key feature of this course and many of the in-class sessions will be supporting students’ own practical placements and providing them with information and reflection time to learn from their real life teaching experiences. Physical activity study requires students who are physically fit and able and who have the ability to read and study independently, manage their time effectively and marry theory with practice.
Students completing this course will be equipped to apply for PGCE courses at top universities, graduate teacher training in-schools programmes or work in any area of physical activity delivery such as personal training or afterschool coaching. This degree programme also provides transferable skills so that other careers e.g research, further study and health work are all options for completing students.
