Accommodation for UCFB Wembley – FAQs

  • Are UCFB Wembley halls catered?

Victoria Hall is a self-catered halls of residence, with excellent facilities for students to cook to their own taste in modern studio flats.

A large number of restaurants and cafes surround the Wembley Park area within minutes’ walk of either hall, with the London Designer Outlet in particular hosting dozens of eateries, including many popular chains for differing tastes.

Supermarkets within walking distance from Victoria Hall include a large 24-hour Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Lidl, not to mention many more family-run convenience stores.

  • Do students stay in halls for a number of years?

First year students are given priority over rooms in halls, but opportunities for second and third year students are available upon request.

  • When do I apply?

Accommodation is available now for 2015/16 entry on a first-come, first-served basis. UCFB recommends that students apply as early as possible for hall accommodation in order to secure their preferred place.

  • How do I apply?

  • If I am holding an offer from UCFB as my insurance choice, should I still make an application for accommodation?

Yes. Please let us know that you are holding the offer as your insurance choice and then we can process your application without delay as soon as you accept a place.

  • Do I need to pay an application fee / deposit?

Victoria Hall: A fully refundable deposit of £300 must be paid upfront, followed by £700 on 1st July.

Deposits can be paid by bank transfer, cheque or over the phone, and will be retained as a deposit and prepayment of fees.

Should you wish to cancel your accommodation request, this must be done in writing (e-mails are accepted) by 1st September.  All rooms are offered on the understanding that you will stay and pay for the room for the entire occupancy period as stated on the Residency Agreement.

  • Is the accommodation deposit refundable if I don’t end up attending UCFB?

The deposit is completely refundable if an applicant fails to achieve the required grades to attend UCFB. The deposit may not be refundable if an applicant cancels their application, however for more information please send an email to accommodation@ucfb.com.

  • Are there any other options at Wembley apart from Victoria Hall?

Victoria Hall are the accommodation providers chosen by UCFB Wembley. Victoria Hall is situated 5 minutes’ walk from Wembley Stadium and just minutes from Wembley Park underground station, furnished to a high standard with the student in mind.

The majority of UCFB Wembley students will be staying at this address, but it is not a requirement to live there in order to study at UCFB.

  • How would I arrange a tour of the accommodation?

  • How many weeks of the year will I be liable for?

You are liable for the duration of your contract.

Accommodation at Victoria Hall is based on a 42 week contract.

  • Who do I need to tell if I have a disability that affects the type of accommodation I require?

In the first instance you will need to tell our Student Recruitment & Admissions Office on +44 (0)843 208 2222 or via e-mail at accommodation@ucfb.com.

Arrangements can be made where possible to accommodate individual requests from students that are disability related. Our Student Services team will work closely with you to find the best solution possible regarding your accommodation.

  • Do I need to let UCFB know if I will be living at home?

No, this is not required and you can disregard any information you receive on UCFB accommodation.

  • What if I do not wish to live in halls of residence?

UCFB halls of residence are offered for the full academic year and we encourage you towards this option. However, renting private accommodation is also an option for some students, such as students with families.

  • What happens if I defer my place at UCFB?

In this case, please disregard any information you receive on UCFB accommodation for the current academic year.  We will send you the information again for your deferred place at the appropriate time.

  • When I receive my exam results do I need to inform UCFB that I am definitely taking up my place?

No. Your application for accommodation will immediately begin to be processed as soon as UCFB is informed by the academic registry at Bucks New University that you have an Unconditional Firm (UF) place with UCFB.

  • I haven’t received information about accommodation yet. What should I do?

You should have received accommodation information by the end of April. If you are a late applicant to UCFB you may receive accommodation information at a later stage.

  • Can I be released from my Residence Agreement to move into private student housing mid-semester or to return to live at home?

Unfortunately this is not usually possible. You will have accepted a contractually binding Residence Agreement for the entire academic session.

  • If my son/daughter opts to commute but partway through the first term decides s/he would prefer to move into accommodation, would it be too late?

Rooms are subject to availability and UCFB will be happy to help with any arrangements should this be the case.

  • Are UCFB Burnley halls catered?

Both Sparrow Hawk and The Crown are catered halls of residence, with breakfast and evening meals provided Monday to Friday during term time at the Sparrow Hawk Halls of Residence. The menu makes provisions for vegetarian and Halal diets, and most dietary requirements can be catered for when notified in advance.

  • Do students stay in halls for a number of years?
